it's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake

So, Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants turned 30 last Friday, and to celebrate I made a cake! Jane helped decorate and my co-workers lent their lovely singing voices to create a little video. We entered the video into a contest against all Kimpton Hotels and Restaurants. Other hotels had their pastry chefs create a masterpiece, so we may not win by skill, but we should sure win for creativity and effort!

The fondant was made from a short cut recipe here: What's Cooking America Not only was it "easy" but it tastes yummy, too!

Special thanks to Abbi for filming and directing the cake decorating! I wouldn't have even tackled this without your consult and help. If we win, you're coming to the party to celebrate!

Halloween 2010!

Josh and I hosted a fun, Halloween party last Saturday! It's true, I wanted a reason to use my wedding presents and was so entertained with the idea of entertaining.

The menu was: mac & cheese bites, mini pigs-in-a-blanket, sweet-ish meatball, chex mix, chips and guac, caramel apples and jell-o "dirt" cups. My parents came over early and helped us get things set up. My mom and I carved pumpkins. There were so many creative costumes! Part of the fun was seeing what everyone dressed up as... We had a bat pinata for the little kids (they were probably still too little for it, but it was fun) and hung out around the fire pit late into the evening.

It was such a fun evening!! We had a blast and we are so blessed to have such great friends and family.

Pumpkin Patch

These last couple of weekends have been so nice! After our wedding, honeymoon and Melissa's wedding, it has been nice to go back to "normal" life free from wedding planning (although, it was SO FUN!).

Yesterday, Josh and I went to Tolmachoff Farms with AMIS (Abbi, Maddi, Izzi and Sophi), Jen, Lexi and my mom! My grandma met us there briefly and it was nice to see her, too!

I had a ball with my new nieces (and new sisters)! They are such great girls and so dang adorable. I don't need to tell you that, you can see for yourself:

Introducing Aaron Jeffrey Moss!

Yesterday, I popped over to Amanda and Travis' with Katy, Melissa & Mark to visit baby AJ! Not only are both Travis and Amanda wonderful parents, but also AJ is simply the cutest little man. No really, he looks like we should be discussing the state of the current economy! I love him already!

I am so excited to hold him all the time and watch him grow up! Here are some photos:
