Hello Friends!

My life has gotten a little more grown up lately... New forever love of my life, new house, new job and officially a honeymooner Mrs.! Everything is a shiny adventure and untrodden territory. Follow along as I navigate the world of being a grown up!

story begins age 5
setting - my parents' house Christmas day

my father got a battery operated screw driver for Christmas, which he immediately started charging. the wall-mount for it was between the washer and dryer in our laundry room for as long as i could remember. but on that day it wasn't wall-mounted yet. i unplugged it from its charger and decided that it seemed like a fun toy - a fun toy that i would definitely get in trouble if caught playing with.

so i snuck out the front door, closing it quietly behind me. and i went around to the side of the house - no one ever went there. i screw drove the dirt a little, screw drove the air.
then i decided that it looked much like a curling iron. so i wrapped my bangs around the screw bit and curling irons have to be turned on - so i turned it on.

it pulled my bangs straight from my scalp.
and it hurt like a sonofa
i started crying.

the bit fell out of my bangs, out of the screw driver into my hand.
i broke my dad's screw driver.
i started crying harder.

i was gonna be in huge trouble breaking dad's new present.

i made it to the front door, by now crying hysterically. i couldn't even talk between the heaves of tears. i just stood in front of my mother - screw driver bit in one hand, clump of red hair in the other, small beads of blood forming on my scalp. my mom took one look at me and started in with the questions.

what happened? oh my gosh! TORY!

i couldn't say anything.

i handed her the screw driver and the "broken" bit and my hair and finally i was able to explain what happened.

i didn't get in trouble, i got hyrdogen peroxide and a new hair cut.

the end.

You forgot to mention that was maybe the third or fourth time you had "issues" with your hair. I have the "after" photos since you always seemed to decide to hack off your bangs, ponytail, whatever, right before school pictures. But this was the first time you managed to pluck it right off your scalp!

I remember that day so well. I felt so bad for you! You were so upset! I probably started crying along with you.
